Fall 2021- I’ve been busy….

Its been too long! I’ve moved twice with my son, got two dogs, lost one dog :(, had my daughter move in with her dog, dealt with a pandemic and gained a bunch of friends I call family. I have also seen more Keller shows in the last year than I have since I started seeing him in 2006! (hence my new family friends) That is another story for another place, though.

I have started dabbling back into art again more frequently and I can’t wait to share what I have been doing. I will post more soon and am looking forward to blogging again! Welcome fall!

Fun Stuff!

I’m so excited for this year. 2016 is a year of new beginnings. Now that the holidays have passed, I’m planning on spending more time on my blog and selling my art on Etsy site.

I recently took the newest Online Card Class called Watercolor for Cardmakers: Intermediate Techniques. It was so enlightening! I love to watercolor but have never done any professional classes other than the first OCC watercolors for Cardmakers. I learned so much and would suggest taking these classes if you like to dabble with the watercolors! Dawn is an amazing teacher, and the guest artists were awesome. Check it out.

Thats all for now~ I’m going to try to post more often and share more of my work. Welcome February!  ~Amy

Vacation Rocks!

Hi crafty friends~

This was last nights sunset on my way home from work. The clouds here in CO are amazing. I’m serious! I must take at least 3 pics of sunsets every week (different days)!

So I start vacation as of 6pm today👍🏻. I was accepted into a craft market here in Lafayette for the end of the month, so I will be sharing my pictures of preparation over this next week! I am super excited! I have never been in a craft market before!  So if anyone has any ideas or tips, please let me know! I was hoping to sell my handmade items (mostly cards and stationary) and possibly Stampin’ Up products also on the side.

Here is a few pics of the clouds on Friday evening- truly a gift….

My daughter leaves for Florida in the morning to visit grandma and grandpa! I will be crafting and preparing all week during my vacation so look for posts!! Happy Tuesday all! I’ll leave you with a few card pics 😉

Hello everyone!

I’ve been busy painting and stamping and becoming a new Stampin’Up independent demonstrator! I have been neglectful in posting to my blog, and I apologize! I received some stamps from Tracy at Mint Owl Studios on Monday and have been painting these flowers like crazy! The stamp set is called ‘Love for Mom’ and has multiple flowers, greetings, and one of my favorites, a vase full of cut flowers! These cards were two I finished today in preparation for Mother’s Day. The card on the left has heat embossing with Zing silver powder and the one on the right has no line watercoloring.

For the image on the left: I stamped with versamark ink and heated silver zing embossing powder on some Montval Canson watercolor paper. I used some Stampin’ Up inks brights collection for watercolors, and added a few turquoise sequins to the vase and topped it off with glossy accents over the entire vase. It looks like real glass! I added some May Arts twine around the left side of the watercolor paper and punched a 1 3/4 inch circle from some Neenah solar white cardstock. I stamped the super cute sentiment ‘love you bunches’ in onyx black versafine ink. I cut a piece of orange/red cardstock slightly smaller than the base, rounded the edges using the We R Memory Keepers cropadile corner chomper punch 1/2 inch size. I then adhered all the pieces together using my ATG on to the Neenah desert storm card base. image

For the card on the right I used antique linen distress ink, I stamped off once then onto the canson watercolor paper. I used Stampin’ Up inks from the brights collection to watercolor the image and again used glossy accents to cover the vase. I placed candy buttons from Stampin’ Up to a few of the flower centers. I cut a piece of light blue cardstock slightly smaller than the Neenah desert storm card base and used some more twine along the top of the card. I stamped the greeting in the onyx black and used the MFT stitched tag dies to cut out the greeting and tied it on the card with the twine. I glued all the pieces together and I was done!

I hope you enjoyed these fun cards using the new ‘Love for mom’ stamp set from Mint Owl Studio!!

Have a wonderful end to your week! Bring on the weekend……

Watercoloring in a coloring book

Hello friends!

We had a snow day today and this is what I worked on! It is from the coloring book by Pepin called ‘Art Nouveau’. I used distress inks from ranger and zig clean color real brush pens to paint the design in the following colors: ranger inks-blueprint sketch, peeled paint, forest moss, twisted citron, wilted violet, festive berries and mermaid lagoon. Zig brush pens- yellow, bright yellow and orange. It took a while but it was fun to paint!!

Have an awesome week!

Hugs~ Amy

Hi friends,

I wanted to just say thank you for being you! The holidays are fast approaching and I wanted to share what I have been working on. I always go back and forth with what I want my Christmas cards to have on them, so I just do any and all ideas I get! I do not like to do a bunch of the same card because I get bored easily! So, I decided on some stockings, trees and crazy birds. And some of these together!

For the stockings, I used ‘Stamps of Life’ stamps and dies, versafine onyx black ink, along with gold mica, kuretake gansai tambi watercolors, Ken Oliver Color Burst powders, canson XL watercolor paper 140#, and white cardstock 140#.

These were so fun to make! I love the color burst powders. They are so groovy with the different pigments in each color.

I then decided to do some trees with crazy birds. The ‘Stamp of Approval’ kit from Catherine Pooler had a set called Bright Baubles by Neat and Tangled that has a small tree I used. The birds are from the Bird Crazy stamp set by Tim Holtz and stamper’s anonymous. Since the trees were able to be bent, I bent them over and added a bird looking at it. I stamped the trees in Hero Arts inks from the ‘My monthly hero’ kit from October, in two different greens, and stamped the crazy birds with onyx black versafine ink. I stamped the bauble ornaments in versamark ink and heat embossed with ranger platinum embossing powder. I watercolored the birds and the baubles with Ranger distress ink and used a blender tool with distress ink for the sky. I added the ornament baubles using some dimensional adhesive and used glossy accents on them to add some shine!

Everyone have a wonderful day today! Stay warm!

Welcome to my Blog Crafty Friends!!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Amy. I am a nurse, artist, mom, wife and generally pretty cool lady and I love all things crafty! I love to watercolor, stamp, color and make cards, along with many, many other things! I love music, too. Can you guess what song this card came from??

I hope this finds you well and getting ready for the holiday season 2015! I have been trying to get this going for some time now, so I finally worked on it all day today and HERE IS MY FIRST POST!!!! So glad you could make it. I have been in the crafty realm since 1995 and started scrapbooking with a friend who was a creative memories demonstrator. Remember them?? I still have some of their albums I have yet to use!

This post is going to be brief, and I wanted to let you know what this blog is about.

  • First- this is a mean-free blog. If you do not have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Kindness and creativity lives here and if that is not for you, please leave. ; )
  • Second– This is a safe area for art, creativity, ideas, sharing, and to learn using my tutorials (coming soon).
  • Third– a place for making crafty friends. And I hope that is a lot!

I will be posting around three days a week, and that will include a card, idea, or tutorial. Since I am new at this, I plan on upgrading continuously, making things better as I learn them. I do have a full-time job other than crafting so I will do the best I can! Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here for you! Thanks for stopping by this blog and who knows, if I become famous some day, you will be with me for the ride!! LETS RIDE!!!!!

Hugs- Amy
